About Us

Cinema Apartments is a modern residential community situated on Evansville’s East Side on the former site of the Showplace Cinemas movie theatre. We pay homage to the rich history of this cherished landmark while offering residents a unique living experience that blends contemporary design with a touch of cinematic nostalgia.

The previous movie theatre opened as Eastpark Cinemas, a small, 3-screen theatre in 1974 and grew over the decades into the 7-screen Showplace Cinemas. However, as time marched on, Showplace Cinemas bid farewell holding its last screening during 2020. But rather than letting this historic venue fade into obscurity, we saw an opportunity to transform its legacy into something truly special. Our commitment is to honor the spirit of the location by creating a vibrant living space that merges the comforts of contemporary living with an appreciation for the cinematic arts and Evansville’s rich history.

At Cinema Apartments, we believe in preserving the stories that shape our cities. By revitalizing the former Showplace Cinemas movie theater, we are not just creating a place to live; we are preserving a piece of Evansville’s history and creating a new chapter where residents can make their own memories.
